上海美高双语学校2016年秋季已经开学了，新学期新气象，为此我们为大家介绍我校师资情况。首先是学术主任Peter Ting 老师，他是康奈尔大学生物科学专业的高材生，并在奥尔巴尼医学院取得博士学位，在教育学领域亦有建树。这就是Peter Ting老师，将担任美高学术部主任，带领美高的老师和同学们更上一层楼。

我的故事

When I was a little boy, I grew up knowing that I wanted to be a computer engineer, a teacher or a mail deliveryman. Those were the jobs that I saw as a young child.After high school, I was interested by science and medicine.I soon graduated from Cornell University with a degree in biological sciences and pursued a PhD from Albany Medical College in Immunology. I spent many hours each day performing research in the laboratory, working with many different species of bacteria, cancer and even HIV. The work was meaningful but I felt my true calling and passion was in teaching.

当我还是一个小男孩时，我的梦想是成为一名电脑工程师、教师或邮件送货员。这些是我作为一个小孩子时耳闻目见的工作。高中毕业后，我对科学和医学非常感兴趣。之后我毕业于康奈尔大学，获得生物科学学士学位，并在奥尔巴尼医学院攻读免疫学博士学位。我每天花很多时间在实验室里进行研究，与许多不同种类的细菌、癌细胞、甚至艾滋病病毒打交道。这工作非常有意义，但我觉得我真正感兴趣的工作是教学。

选择来中国教学的契机

While I’m a United States citizen, my roots lie in Taiwan. I moved to China and begin teaching at a university before switching to international school education. I believe that the youth of China are at a critical period where they face many pressures from families and peers while still also trying to discover their own talents and strengths. Education and caring teachers play an important role in helping the students (and parents) develop and learn about the different opportunities available as well as allowing each child learn more about themselves.

虽然我是一个美国公民，我的根在中国台湾。我搬到中国，在进入国际学校教书之前我在一所大学教书。我相信，中国的年轻人正处于一个关键时期，他们面临着来自家庭和同龄人的许多压力，同时还不断地想要发展自己的天赋和优势。他们的教育环境和遇到负责任的教师对于他们的成长起着至关重要的作用，这将帮助学生(和家长)得到许多机会来帮助每个孩子了解自己的各个方面。

我的课堂

My classroom is very lively and engaging – I think the learning process can be filled with excitement, wonder and questioning. I believe that the classroom should be an active learning environment where students and teachers have a mutual respect and the freedom for an open exchange of ideas. Part of my constructivist paradigm for my philosophy of education means that students need to experience their knowledge as they assimilate this new information.

我的课堂是非常活泼和吸引人的，我认为学习过程中可以充满激情、惊奇和质疑。我认为，课堂应该提供一个积极的学习环境，学生和教师有相互尊重和自由开放的思想交流。我所构建的教育哲学的一部分是需要学生亲身去体验他们所学的知识，因为他们需要透彻理解这些新的知识。

After receiving my M.S.Ed in Educational Leadership from Indiana University and having more responsibilities in teacher development, training and leadership, I am honored to take on the role of Academic Director at LWS, supporting our teaching staff and improving our academic program. I also plan on continuing my investment in the lives of students, teaching a leadership class and serving as an advisor for Student Council and Key Club.

在我收到印第安那大学教育领导学的教育学博士和哲学博士学位后，我发觉自己在对教师的培训、领导和发展中有更多的责任。我很荣幸在美高担任学术主任的角色，并且我会努力支持和带领学校的教学人员不断提高和改善我们的学术课程。除此以外，我还将会持续关注学生生活，并担任美高学生会和学生社团的顾问。

I am passionate about coaching and mentoring both teachers and students and I’m excited to see LWS continue to improve and grow.
