他善于聆听并发现学生学习生活中的困扰,是学生心目中的良师益友。作为一名的心理学老师,Tyren老师运用专业的心理学知识,帮助学生解决成长过程中的问题。他的心理学课程一直以来是上海美高双语学校学生最喜爱的课程之一。
我的故事
After spending two year studying Psychology in Atlanta Georgia at Morehouse College, the school of Martin Luther King Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson, I wanted to move closer to home.Majoring in Clinical psychology at San Francisco State University, I worked as Counselor for several years before coming to China. In China I taught several English as a foreign language and English as a second language class. My focus has been with test taking such as TOEFL and IELST to students going to their first year of college however my passion and experience has always been with Psychology.
我用了两年的时间在亚特兰大莫尔豪斯学院学习心理学,这所学校出了马丁·路德·金和塞缪尔·杰克逊等一批伟人,选择这里也是因为,这里也离我故乡更近。在来中国之前,我在旧金山州立大学主修临床心理学,当了几年的心理辅导员。在美高学校,我同时教授英语为母语班级和英语为非母语班级。同时帮助学生们辅导和安排大学申请测试,如TOEFL和IELST,当然,我始终对教授心理学课保持激情。
教学理念:尊重学生个性,给予发展机会
My summers at university were spent teaching students through a unique program in America called Summerbridge. This program granted me the opportunity to learn from master teachers while travelling all over the United States. I have met many types of students in my career. I understand that not all children are the same. That they must be met on an individual basis, that they should be treated with respect as human beings, but most of all they should be giving the opportunity as human beings to flourish. Those students who engage themselves, ask questions, and participate are guaranteed success.
我大学时期的暑假都在教学生中度过,通过一种在美国被称为“暑期桥梁课程”的形式。在这期间,我游学于美国各大学校之间,这给了我很多机会在不同老师身上学习经验。在我的职业生涯中,我接触过许多类型的学生。我清楚的知道,每一个学生都是不同的。在满足他们个性的基础上,他们应该被当做成年人来对待。但最重要的是,他们应该被给予更多发展机会。那些勇于参与、提问、分享的同学将会获得成功。
课程安排
This year I will continue to teach AP Psychology and General Psychology while adding two new courses to my schedule Positive Psychology – the psychology of success and happiness and Introduction to Literature.
今年我将继续教AP心理学和普通心理学课程,另外我安排增加了两门新课程:关于成功和幸福的心理学,以及文学概论。心理辅导
I also am High Counselor and help student with any of their social emotional needs. I use many methods in the classroom to get kids to open up and feelcomfortable about communicating. Throughcommunications students are able to grasp new concepts and master difficult terms.
同时我也是一名高级顾问,帮助学生处理他们的社会情感需求。在课堂上,我用很多方法让孩子们敞开心扉,让他们觉得交流是件令人舒服的事情。通过交流帮助学生树立新的观念,处理一些困难的关系。
在LWS的期望
Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn. I want to help kids to open up and feel comfortable about communicating. Through communications students are able to adopt a positive attitude to life.
“不闻不若闻之,闻之不若见之;见之不若知之,知之不若行之;学至于行而止矣。”我希望通过我的课程,能够帮助学生打开心扉,让他们享受并乐于与人交流。从而通过交流,让学生能够树立积极乐观的人生态度。
