从10月开始，上海美高学校心理辅导组面向所有高中生开展了一套社会情绪课程，名为“Choose Love Enrichment”。它教导四种重要的品格：勇气、感恩、宽恕、怜悯的行动。每月一个主题，分为四期。本课程能够培养乐观、韧性和个人责任感，提高学生的心理健康和学业表现。

Starting from October, the Counseling team at Living Word Shanghai launched a series of social-emotional learning class,called “Choose Love Enrichment Program.” It teaches four important character values: Courage, Gratitude, Forgiveness and Compassion in Action, one topic per month. The program cultivates optimism, resilience and personal responsibility. Through this program, we will guide students improve their mental health and academic performance.

本课程由David、Damian、Katrina和Belinda四位老师授课。在十月份，我们完成了“勇气”专题，要点如下：1勇气的定义是“有意愿和能力克服难关，即使会面临恐惧、尴尬和不确定感。”我们鼓励学生给自己设定目标，在今年之内达成五件有勇气的事情。2要体认到，表现真正的自我是需要很大勇气的，从而愿意敞开心胸去接纳和尊重各种各样的人。3同理、爱和创新等积极意念都需要暂时让自己变得脆弱，因此不要害怕和排斥脆弱。4在需要的时候，选择一个特定的身体姿势和动作来激发自己的信心和勇气。

The program is taught by four teachers: David, Damian, Katrina, and Belinda. In October we finished the topic of Courage. Here is the summary. (1) The definition of courage is “the willingness and ability to work through obstacles despite feelings of embarrassment, fear, reluctance,or uncertainty.” We encouraged students to select five things they would have courage to do in this year. (2) We need to understand that expressing the true self requires huge courage, and thus be willing to accept and respect different kinds of people. (3) Positive mentalities like empathy, love, and innovation all requires being vulnerable in the beginning. We should not fear of being vulnerable. (4) When the situation calls for it, use certain bodily gesture or movement to increase our confidence and courage.

心理课

在课程当中，有的学生乐于尝试，有的则不易曝露自己脆弱。他们像家人般互相分享经验和想法，有欢笑也有泪水。大部分学生都获得勇气让彼此更加接近。

For some students, the class was a welcomed challenge. For others, it was a difficult step in learning to let ourselves be vulnerable. Students share their experiences and ideas like a family. In the short time we spent together, we laughed and cried. Most of us gained the courage to become closer.

在十一月下旬，我们将进入第二个专题“感恩”，同时将举办票选活动，请拭目以待。In the second half of November, we will go through the second topic: Gratitude. Meanwhile we will hold a vote for that topic. Please keep paying attention to it.
