除了了解美国发达的科技技术外，上海美高学校培养学生对大自然的了解和热爱。同学们连续几天在麦肯锡国家森林公园通过野外生存进一步挖自身掘潜能与提高综合素质.

In addition to teaching them advancedtechnology, Living Word’s summer camp fosters the students’ love of nature andthe environment. Outdoor survival training in McKinsey National Forest Park hasimproved their comprehensive personal qualities, allowing them to reach theirfull potential.

在森林公园进行PPT学习及室内游戏等学习关于环保的理念、水资源的保护等,例如测一条小溪的水流速度、干净程度、PH值;参观威斯康星州当地的野生动物，期间也参访了流浪动物收容领养中心，了解它们的习性以及环保的概念，并在此过程中学习英文词汇。

In the forest park, the students participatedin many projects related to environmental protection. For example, they testedthe flow speed of creeks, their cleanliness and PH levels, visited a localwildlife park in Wisconsin and a stray animal host adoption center. In doingso, they learned habits and ideas about environmental protection, not tomention plenty of English.

同学们通过观察水资源、自然环境与动物的生活习性和特征，了解生态地质现象、水纹规律、气候知识等了解野外生存环境，激发学习热情，拓展视野。同学能够对环境保护的内容多加探讨成为自己的作业，激发对自然科学的认识也培养同学们生态保护的意识。人与自然的良性循环规律就是人、动植物与环境的和谐相处。地球许多地方由于过分开采，加之对濒临绝迹的珍惜保护动物大量地猎杀，使得生态环境正遭受严重地破坏，从而面临各种自然灾害及资源的短缺。让同学们了解到对大自然的保护，也意识到了生态失衡的危害，培养他们珍爱动植物、水资源，加深保护生态环境的意识，并承担起社会责任。或许今后在这些学生中就诞生出环保大亨等世界精英。

Through the observation of waterresources, natural environments and the habits of animals, the students learnedaboutoutdoorsurvival, eco-geological phenomena, water law, and the atmosphere. Doing sofostered the students’ passion for learning and expanded their knowledge. Webelieve all of this will encourage students to further explore the naturalsciences and be more aware of eco-geological protection. We are confronted withserious damage to ecological environments because of over exploitation ofresources and the slaughter of large numbers of endangered animals. After learningso much about environmental protection, the students were willing to show theirlove for animals, resources and the environment, by taking responsibility toprotect them. Perhaps one day some of the kids will be tycoons of environmentalprotection.

美国的教育并非仅仅看重学生的学习成绩与考试分数，更加注重学生综合素质的培养。夏令营培养学生的意志力、道德品质和团队合作精神等教育所不能缺失的元素。集团安排老师根据大自然的特征，进行了野外生存技能的训练，包括在了解地质状况、天气、植被等情况下学会如何在野外取火?怎样在物资极为匮乏的情况下利用各种植被搭建野外临时帐篷庇护?如何应对危机?徒步魔鬼湖考验学生的意志、耐力;练习射箭培养专注力和学会自我保护。这些技能会帮助学生今后遇到野外环境时学会独立生存，在遇到恶劣外部环境时学会保持冷静以及提升团队合作精神。

American education focuses not only ongrades, but on the development of different personal qualities, such aswillpower, morality and teamwork. We arranged outdoor nature-based survivaltraining for the students. These included how to make a fire outdoors, how to setup a temporary tent, and how to deal with crises. Walking in Devil’s Lake testedthe students’ willpower and patience. Archery trained their concentration andability to defend themselves form wild beasts. All of these skills can help themmaintain calm and be more united when facing any outdoor survival problem.

上海美高学校组织夏令营通过了解大自然与野外生存技能的培训使得同学们的综合素养不断提高，各方面全面发展。通过这次夏令营能够培养出今后杰出的野外生存培训师、环球旅行者等精英人士。

We hope that learning about nature andgaining outdoor survival skills will help Living Word students grow incomprehensive ways. We further hope that some future field survival training instructorsand Globetrotters, will come from Living Word.
