Credited Summer Camp of 2015 Part III

体验了美国发达的高科技、管理模式、慈善环保与野外生存技能后，我们上海美高学校学生将全方位体验美国的教育文化乃至全球其他文化体系。

Afterlearning a great deal about advanced-technology, new management styles, ideason altruism and environmentalism and survival skills, we fully experienced, thenow globalized, American education and culture.

2015年7月26日同学们参观了德国节，了解了德国人的风俗习惯和文化特征，包括德国的啤酒、汽车工业、教育、严格规范的企业管理、社区管理，德国人有许多优秀性格如严谨、认真与幽默等;德国也出过优秀的音乐家、哲学家等;通过德国文化进一步了解欧洲及全球历史文化，学习他们的优秀品质。的确，除了了解美国以外，我校更注重培养学生成为全球化的成功人士。为让更多学生了解各国文化与发展状况，我校开设东欧历史、其他国家语言等课程，今后还要开设非洲历史课程，这些都会给学生去全球发展提供好的机遇和准备。

On July 26th, thestudents visited a German cultural festival to learn about German customs andculture. This included German beer, automobiles, education, rigid management,and orderliness. Germans tend to excel in many areas. They are known for beingcareful, strict and humorous. Also many great musicians and philosophers wereborn in Germany. The students were able to better understand Europe and globalculture and history through learning about German culture. Because we focus oncultivating the students to be successfully global citizens, we make sure toinclude multinational elements like this even when abroad. This is why LivingWord Shanghai will set up many courses that few other schools have, such as EasternEuropean history and Africa history, and currently offers a number of thirdlanguage programs. These provide opportunities to students who are willing tobecome successful global citizen in the future.

夏令营期间我们还拜访了PoynetteHigh School。该校校长接待了美高师生，带我们参观校园并教同学们打棒球。棒球在美国是一种流行的体育运动，也是美国的文化。棒球也是美国人交友的一种方式，美国的高中大学都有棒球场与校棒球队。在同学们求学兴趣日益增高的情况下还学会了打橄榄球、篮球等美式运动。

Another of out visits included PoynetteHigh School. The principle of the high school invited us on a tour of theschool campus. He taught us to play baseball, which is very popular and a goodmethod for making friends in America. Many high schools and universities havetheir own baseball team. With increasing interest, the students learned to playAmerican sports such as American football and basketball.

还组织美高师生参观了卡罗尔大学，该校是有着150多年历史的教会大学。主要让同学们了解到大学的学科设置、图书馆、校园设施和专业选择等。让同学们对自己今后理想的大学有一个基本的了解，而开始积极准备。

The students andteachers from Shanghai visited Carroll University, a missionary universitywith more than 150 years of history. The students came in order to familiarizethemselves with the subjects, library, campus facilities and course selectionin American universities. All of these are helpful for students to understandand prepare for their future university careers.

在参观完院校以后同学们在美国家庭吃晚餐与烧烤体验美国人的生活方式与习俗。在学校老师上课都用比较正规的英语教授学生，而美国当地的居民都会带有当地口音与浓厚地方色彩的表达方式。融入当地人的生活及能够学到纯真美式英语的表达方式提高英语实战水平。

Aftervisiting some educational institutions, the students enjoyed a BBQ dinner withan American family to experience the American life style. This helps balancethe proper English, taught at Living Word Shanghai, with that of Americans whotend to speak with stronger accents and use more, harder to understand expressions.Blending into local life can improve ones’ overall English level.

辛苦的体验之余，同学们还在LIVING WORD JACKSON 上课一周，同学们要汇报自己的作业、学习英语、参加具体学分课程如解剖动物、 AP课程等与学分相关的课程内容，艺术课做陶艺和水彩画，音乐课收集各种音乐。尤其上海美高学校开设了艺术和音乐等课程，就是为了让学生们到美国以后能够更好地适应美国的学习氛围。同学们还获得了由威斯康辛总部颁发的夏令营结业证书，这是对同学们参访美国，短期内取得进步的肯定。上海美高学校每年也欢迎和安排美国Living Word总部带美国学生来我校参观访问，了解中国文化，学习汉语。

Naturally, the students had theopportunity to attend classes at Living Word Jackson for one week. There were various curriculums for them toexperience, including, English, Anatomy of animals for credit, AP classes, Pottery,watercolors, music collection, report writing and the like. Living WordShanghai has, like wise, set up art and music programs in order that thestudents may better adapt to the living and studying environments of America. Thestudents gained a certificate of completion for the summer camp from LivingWord Jackson. This shows that the students had made progress during the shorttime in America.

今年美高暑期夏令营活动不仅仅是游玩，而是让同学们从课堂中的了解美国，变为到实际生活中体验美国文化，使同学们对美国及全球文化有了基本的了解，尽快找到自己的方向，将我校品德、勤奋和创新的理念体现的淋漓尽致。同学们在活动中互相帮助，尤其在野外活动中大胆冒险，尝试学习使同学们具备了独立自理、团结合作、克服困难等优秀品格，提升综合素质找到自身发展方向。夏令营的结束也意味着同学们新学期以更加崭新的面貌投入到学习中来。

Living Word’s summer camps are not onlyfor travel, but for turning book knowledge about America into real life experiencethat enables students to gain basic understanding of American and globalculture and find direction for the future. The students embodied our school’s integrity,diligence and innovation as they helped each other, braved outdoor survivalactivities, became more independent, and overcame all difficulties in theirpath. In doing so, they improved their comprehensive abilities and discoveredtheir future direction. The end of the summer camp means that the students startnext year’s term with a new and positive attitude.
