从2015年8月30日起，上海美高学校举行了隆重的秋季开学仪式欢迎新老学生入学报到，学校呈现出一片欣欣向荣的面貌，一切都是新的气象和崭新的学习氛围。

Onthe August 30, Living Word Shanghai held a big event to welcome the new and oldstudents. The school took on a flourishing atmosphere to create a brand new learningenvironment.

2015年8月31日到9月2日，同学们满怀着对新学期憧憬的喜悦，愉快地配合学校各部门老师井井有条地办理各项入学手续，并在美高学校的室内体育场进行秋季开学仪式。学校董事长方正先生至欢迎词，之后学校各部门负责人发表讲话，所有任课老师上台做自我介绍，同学们不断发出欢呼声迎接自己喜欢的老师。学生会成员也介绍2015～2016年新的学生学习与活动情况，同时让新学生们进行互动与互相认识。开学典礼结束后学校组织了盛大的篮球比赛以欢迎新学期的到来。但最重要的新学期，新气象是我校在本学期将有各大创新举措提升教学质量与学校管理，为学生在2015～2016获得成功起一个非常好的开端。详细情况如下：

From August 31st to September2nd, the students showed a positive attitude toward the new semester, and many volunteered to help out. The grand Opening Ceremony held inour indoor stadium. The chairman of the board, Mr. Fang Zheng made the openingaddress. Then the heads of each department made speeches and all the teachersmade self-introductions. The students enthusiastically cheered for theirfavorite teachers. The members of our Student Council introduced the academicand club activities for the 2015-2016academic year. After the opening ceremony, the school organized a big sportingevent for a friendly basketball competition to welcome the new students.However the most important thing for the new semester is that Living Word Shanghaiwill take new measures to improve the quality of education and schoolmanagement in order to create a good start for the new semester.

规范引导学生自发努力

“不以规矩，不能成方圆”。上海美高学校经过几年的学校管理后，逐步积累了宝贵的经验并形成制度激励学生自发努力提高自身素质。学校出台了纪律等级措施，以学生违反纪律的轻重程度给予不同级别的处罚。例如手机管理、出勤率、校服、宿舍管理和晚自习等方面学校加大管理力度，新增各项措施以帮助学生培养自律、提升兴趣、减少干扰并提供良好的学习氛围。例如在校服方面，将有严格的制度学生有统一的校服，体现出我校学生新的精神面貌与学校理念，旨在提醒学生不断为实现自身理想而奋斗。

Guideline students to work hard

“Withoutrules, nothing can be accomplished,” as the old Chinese saying goes. During thepast couple of years of school management, Living Word Shanghai has accumulated precious experience that has helped it refine policies to foster students’comprehensive personal qualities. The school has issued a discipline policy withdifferent tiers of discipline, which gives different punishments to studentsaccording to each tier.

欢迎美方校长任职

LivingWord Shanghai 校区新任校长DaveMiskimen先生是美国威斯康辛州Living Word Lutheran High School校长。他会将美国威斯康辛州先进的教育管理与教学经验带到我校，并负责管理和监控上海分校的教学质量，定期来上海校区检查学生作业、指导教学等使美高的办学达到美国标准，让学生更加适应国际化管理。我校学生毕业后也将获得美国威斯康星总部Living Word Lutheran HighSchool颁发的毕业证书。

The new principal of Living WordShanghai, Dave Miskimin, is from Living Word Lutheran High School in JacksonWisconsin in America. He will bring advanced education philosophy andeducational management to our school, and will be responsible for teachingquality and management. For example, he will regularly check the students’homework and instruct the teaching so that requirements of the school can matchthose of America. This will enable the students to adapt to the international standardsof education. Our graduates will obtain their diploma form Living Word LutheranHigh School in America.

优秀的师资比

我校师资体系不仅优秀而且正在逐年扩大，课程教师中65%为外籍教师，他们中的绝大多数曾任教美国及欧洲具有丰富的国际教育经验。目前，我校综合师生比为1：4，外籍师资与学生的比例为1：6。今年秋季我校新加盟的老师有在美联社担任记者并在前苏联解体时驻莫斯科记者Larry先生，他有高校教育背景也是我校的校务总监。学校也邀请获得2010年上海市羽毛球十四届运动会双打名的吴凯源先生担任校羽毛球队主教练。同时加入我们师资团队的还有心理规划师Tyren McElwee老师、电脑美工设计师Tamara Buckland老师和等。这些老师的加盟充实了师资的力量也更能够关心到更多学生的成长。

A Superior Teacher-Student Ratio

Ouroutstanding faculty is expanding. Of our richly experienced teaching staff, 65%percent are international, most of which are from the United States and Europe.As of now, our teacher-student ratio is 1:4 and international teacher-studentratio is 1:6. Mr. Synclair, for example, was an American news journalist andradio broadcaster. He worked as foreign news correspondent in Moscow during thecollapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s. We have also invited Jack Wu who wonthe 14th Annual Shanghai Badminton Doubles Competitions to be the head coach ofour badminton team. Jack Wu is now one of our many talents such aspsychologist, Tyren McElwee, and graphic designer, Tamara Buckland. All of ourstaff, new and old, play vital roles in the development of our students.

建立执行委员会

为了更加能够发挥优秀教师团队的作用，美高学校进行优秀师资担任校务管理工作进行教育管理体系创新。学校由教务总监、校务总监和招生总监组成校执行委员会，招生部下设家校互助管委会，保持学校和家长及时沟通。这使得学校日常工作有条不紊而高效地运行。

In order to maximize our teaching staff,the school is now employing our top teachers as managers to promote moreinnovative education management. The school’s executive cabinet is composed ofthe Director of Academics, Director of Faculty and Director of Admissions whichincludes the Home and School Management committee. This body has been helpingthe school run more effectively and orderly.

新学年我们的课程设置规模犹如大学一样共开设了六大系分别为美术系、数学系、综合科学系、社会科学与媒体沟通系、世界语言系、体育系和计算机系。每个系分别聘请外籍教师担任系主任，使得种类繁多的课程被科学地细化和归类。

TheDirectors

Theschool is currently organized into seven different academic departments. Theyinclude the departments of Mathematics, Social Science, Natural Sciences, World Languages, Physical Education, and Computer Sciences.

外籍宿管主任

以外籍教师为主任的学生宿舍管理部门在其他国际学校甚至国内高校也是非常罕见的。美国籍教师将以国际化的宿管理念建立起一套完善的宿舍管理制度帮助学生学会自立独立并早日融入西方文化。

Foreign of Dormitory Director

Having a foreigner as the head ofdormitories is rare among other international schools and even universities inChina. Irvin Martin, an American teacher, has builtup a set of regulations for dormitory management. He employs internationalphilosophies to help students train independently in all walks of life, so that they may blend into western culture early.
