为进一步提高学校学生和教职员工在紧急状态下的应变能力和自我保护能力，增强安全意识，学习、掌握在遇到灾害和紧急情况时的报警、扑救和疏散方法，提高自我防范和自救能力，6月8日下午，上海美高双语学校组织全校师生举行了防灾应急疏散演练活动。

In order to improve knowledge of safety procedures for the school’s students, faculty, and staff in times of emergency, Living Word Shanghai organized an emergency evacuation drill on the afternoon of June 8th. All involved learned how to protect themselves, how to respond to emergency alarms, and proper evacuation methods throughout the school.

下午14时30分，随着演练总指挥下达演习指令，防灾应急疏散演练正式拉开序幕。

At 14:30 PM, the disaster prevention and emergency evacuation drill officially began as the drill commander issued drill instructions.

指挥部通过校园广播发出了地震警报的声音，同学们在老师的指导下，迅速进行应急避震：抱头、闭眼，蜷曲身体迅速躲在各自的课桌下或课桌边。当指挥部指示地震已过，同学们开始紧急疏散。各班同学在老师的带领下，按预定的疏散路线，快速向教学楼各安全出口撤离，有序疏散到操场上，以躲避“余震”的发生。

The drill commander issued a school-wide earthquake siren and students, under the guidance of their teachers, were quick to respond: protecting their eyes and heads while hiding under their desks. When the notice went out that the earthquake had passed, students began to evacuate immediately. Under the guidance of their teachers, students in each class quickly evacuated to the safe exit of the teaching building according to pre-determined evacuation routes, and evacuated to the playground in an orderly manner to avoid after-shocks.

紧急疏散完成后，各班清点学生人数并及时报告演练指挥部。

After the completion of the emergency evacuation, all classes counted the number of students and reported to the drill headquarters in a timely manner.

随后，消防灭火演练活动开始，学生代表与操作人员一道，手持手提式干粉灭火器，人站在上风口上，拔掉保险销后，一手握住压把，一手紧握喷管，对准火苗根部喷射，在场学生认真观看这一操作。

Afterwards, fire extinguishing practices began: student representatives together with operators handled portable fire extinguishers. They pulled the latch of the fire extinguisher with one hand on the nozzle, directing the fire extinguisher’s formula to the base of the flame.

演练结束后，总指挥总结了这次演练的成果，认为整个疏散演练活动组织工作规范到位，演练过程紧张有序，是一场成功的防灾应急疏散演练。

After the rehearsal, the drill commander summarized the results of the exercise and deemed the entire process to be a success through the participation and cooperation of students and their ability to follow proper instructions and evacuation routes properly.
