自我介绍

I am from the United States, but have lived and taught in Shanghai for nine years. I originally came to China to learn about China and experience other cultures. After living here for a year I decided I loved Shanghai and wanted to stay.After I have lived here for 2 years, I met a beautiful young woman from JiangXi province. After two years of marriage, we have the first child, a son 2 years ago and they had a daughter 5 months ago. I plans to continue living in China for the foreseeable future.

我来自美国,已经在上海生活了九年，最初来到中国是为了学习中国和其他文化经验。住在这里一年之后,我发现我爱上了这座城市，所以我决定留下来。在这里住了2年之后，我遇到了一位来自江西的年轻美丽的女孩。结婚两年之后，我们迎来了个孩子,他是一个男孩。五个月之前，我们又有了一个女儿。我计划继续在中国生活，将来会更美好。

为什么选择成为老师

I was educated in the US and graduated with my BA in Communications from Thomas Edison University in New Jersey. As it became clear that I would make teaching my life-long career I took another degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Azusa Pacific University in California. This degree ignited my passion for teaching and working with students from other cultures. My final research was in how to include English Language Learners in English first language classrooms.

我在美国接受的高等教育，毕业于新泽西州托马斯·爱迪生大学的传媒学专业。在加州的阿兹塞太平洋大学取得了英语教学的学位之后，我就将教育当作我的终生职业。这点燃了我对教育来自不同文化的学生的热情。我的学位论文研究的就是如何将英语学习者很好的融入英语为母语的课堂环境中。

教学经验

I have taught at several different high-schools and universities in Shanghai including Shanghai International Studies University and Shanghai Foreign Languages School. I have also taught a very wide variety of students including both Chinese and International students as well as various adult learners. This is my second year teaching at Living Word Shanghai where I will teach the Global Literature and Academic Writing classes. In these classes I plan to help students improve their skills in English and also prepare them for entrance to western universities and culture.

我曾在上海的很多高校和大学任教，其中包括了上海外国语大学和上海外国语学校。教学对象也十分广泛，包括了中国学生、国际留学生以及各种成人学习者。这是我第二年在上海美高学校任教，在这里我负责教授世界文学和学术写作课程。在这些课程中，计划帮助学生提高他们的英语技巧，同时为他们进入西方大学、熟悉西方文化打下基础。

I have been involved in school discipline for 3 years. I was a member of the Discipline Committee at Yew Wah School of Changning, and I was the discipline coordinator for the British A-Level’s Center affiliated with Shanghai Foreign Languages School and Xian Da College. In my first year as Director of Discipline for Living Word Shanghai, I redesigned their discipline systems and helped to re-organize their school discipline policies based on the qualities of respect and responsibility. This year, I intend to continue codifying and standardizing LWS’s discipline policies and helping to develop an even more professional learning environment for their students.

我参与学校的纪律部门已经三年了，曾是长宁耀华学校纪律委员会的成员，同时也是上海外国语学院附属学校贤达学院英国A-Level中心的纪律协调员。年担任美高学校的纪律部主任时，我重新修订了学校的纪律制度，在充分尊重和负责的基础上建立惩罚机制。今年，我也会继续编纂和完善学校的纪律机制，为学生们营造一个更加优良的学习环境。

教学风格

I have a very unique perspective on education because I have never been a traditional student. As a teacher I see each student as a unique individual with very specific educational and personal needs. Because each student is totally unique I try to allow many ways for students to achieve success in his class. I expect all students to meet the learning objectives of my class; however, I allow them to reach them and prove they have reached them in different ways. This allows students to use their own unique talents and abilities to achieve the success they so dearly desire.

我对教育有着独特的理解，因为我从来都不是一个墨守成规的人。作为一名教师，我能够看到每个学生独特的个性和不同的需求，在这基础上，我会尝试很多方式帮助学生获得成功。包括为班上的每个学生指定学习目标，然后帮助他们用不同的方式达成目标。这样的教育方式，有利于学生发掘自己的特长和天赋，并且实现他们内心渴望的成功。

在LWS的期望

This year, I intend to continue codifying and standardizing LWS’s discipline policies and helping to develop an even more professional learning environment for their students.
