Living Word Shanghai students will visit New York University’s Shanghai campus on May in order to familiarize them with college life. This experience will also give them time to think about the future they want to pursue in college.

As a world-class University, NYU is ranked 20th in all American Universities and has a total of 14 campuses worldwide. Many notable graduates have come out of NYU, including 33 Nobel Prize winners, 3 Abel Prize winners, 21 Oscar winners, as well as Emmy, Grammy, and Tony awards. Additionally, 9 National Science medal winners, 16 Pulitzer prize winners, and 19 winners of the American Academy of Sciences. NYU places an emphasis on the Arts, Humanities, and Social Science disciplines. Heads of state and other notable people also graduated from NYU, including JFK, Rudi Giuliani, Gu Zhen Fu, Chen Li An, Ma Ying-Jeou, and more.

NYU-Shanghai welcomes all to its student body. With admissions each year not usually surpassing 300, it is a prestigious and well-known school around the world. The school is known locally for its cooperation with East China Normal University and is also known as the only such school and cooperation in mainland China.

Students are able to learn about different cultures from around the world in its multicultural and diverse classrooms and campus while also developing their intercultural communication skills. Admission is not based solely on students’ grades, but on a holistic level where they evaluate students’ competency in English, their attitude towards studying and learning, and their determination to solve taxing problems.

These qualities recognized by NYU as being important are also important for us at Living Word Shanghai. Balanced holistic development of students in terms of their IQ and EQ while allowing students to nurture and develop their personal interests is a hallmark of Living Word Shanghai. Independent and logical thinking are also emphasized; with interactive classrooms and teachers that emphasize the Socratic method of instruction, where students and teachers are able to openly discuss ideas, we hope students will be able to set meaningful life goals and establish correct values in their future based on their experiences and discussions in the classroom. Living Word Shanghai students are at an advantage when applying to schools like NYU-Shanghai.

In 2017, one of our grade 12 students was admitted into New York University in Shanghai.

After visiting the school and campus, we hope that students can answer some questions they might have about college life and leave with a feeling of motivation as they begin to plan their college lives and futures. This visit to NYU-Shanghai is a certain benefit to all participants!

Living Word Shanghai is located in Shanghai Minhang District’s Hongqiao International Schools area, educating Chinese and
