上海美高学校成立阅读社的目的是通过阅读杂志上文章和实时新闻来锻炼批判性的思维的能力，在阅读的时候也可以从一天中的学习压力中放松自己。

批判性思维的主要能力分成六个部分：解释，分析，评估，推论，说明和自我校准。

除了通过阅读养成批判性思维，阅读社，同样也是一个包含课业讲解的社团。成员可以带着自己学业上困惑和问题来到社团来寻求大家的帮助去尝试解决自己的学术性问题。

The reading club consists this kind of goal: cultivating the ability to do critical thinking through reading articles from magazines and real-time news, also relax from daily schoolwork through reading. The club’s slogan is: “Make reading a joy, not a torture!”

The ability to do critical thinking can be narrow down into six smaller portions: explain, analysis, assess, deduce, present, and self-revise.

Besides nurturing critical thinking, the reading club is also a club consists schoolwork interpretations. Club members are allowed to bring enigmas and questions to the club and seek for help and farther explanation on the school courses’ topic and try to overcome the hurdles blocking their way.
