课程丰富多彩结构严谨的美高院系

上海美高学校为了学生能够更加全面发展而开设了各大生动活泼的学科体系，美高学校现已接近80门课程，这些课程可以分为7大板块，即七大系。旨在培养未来具有全球国际观的领导者。

In order to improvethe students’ well-rounded development, Living Word Shanghai has assembled a skilledand well-organized faculty team. There are now a number of departments, each withtheir own subjects. They include the following:

社会科学系

我校聘请美联社驻前苏联记者LarrySynclair担任我校社会科学系系主任。该系包括地理、全球历史、美国历史、心理学、微观经济学、领导力、文化礼仪学课程。社会科学主要是对人文和人类的研究与探讨。如果你深爱人类，你就会研究社会科学。社会科学系还为学生进入全球社会提供了方法与指导，为他们立足世界任何地方创造条件。

SocialScience Department:

Our school invited Larry Synclair, aformer American news journalist, radio broadcaster, and correspondent to Moscow,to be the head of our Social Science Department. This department includes: Geography,Global History, Psychology, Leadership, and Intercultural Etiquette. If youlove people, you will love social science. The department aims at searching anddiscussing humanity and people, providing global perspectives to students whoare willing to be successful, global citizens, and create good conditions forstudents in the world.

世界语言系

美高学校开设了世界语言系着重让学生学会第三语言，除了汉语与英语以外其他国家的语言文化也是非常精彩和值得研究的。我校开设第三语言的宗旨在于给学生提供一个了解第三国文化背景的环境。具体课程为：法语、韩语、德语、西班牙语、日语等语言课程为学生创业提供更广泛的机遇。

Brain Domenget老师担任世界语言系系主任。学习新语言旨在倡导不害怕犯错，主动尝试新事物，学无止境，每天都学习一些新事物的精神。

WorldLanguages Department:

Our school set up a World Languages Departmentto encourage students to learn a third language. In addition to the Chinese andEnglish, learning another language is very beneficial. The goal of teaching athird language is to provide a new cultural background to students. Thelanguages we teach include, French, German, Korean, Spanish and Japanese.

文学系：

为了培养学生的文学修养扩大学生的视野，我校开设文学系让学生了解文学赏析、读者文学反应、诗歌和短篇小说。学生在不断增加他们的阅读理解的深度和写作技巧的同时，也增加了他们的词汇量和语法知识。

文学系下开设的课程为：全球文学、美国文学、知识理论、韩国文学、英语提升课、高级英语课程。

LiteratureDepartment:

In order tocultivate greater literary skills and appreciation in our students, the schoolsets up a literature curriculum to develop skills such as literary analysis,literary response, poetry, and short stories. Students will improve theirvocabulary and grammar as they improve the depth of their reading comprehensionand develop their writing techniques.

This departmentincludes Global Literature, American Literature,Theory ofKnowledge, AP Literature and Composition, Korean Literature, English Acceleration,English Acceleration Upper.

美术系：

学生将通过实践和理论探索学习各种艺术形式如油画、水彩画，培养学生艺术观察、表达、抽象和想象等能力，引导学生通过作品表达自己的思想。艺术不仅仅是外部的好看，更是表达内在的价值观与人文内涵。美术系下设：初级美术课程、中级美术课程、美术理论、媒体设计、时尚设计、高级艺术。

FineArt Department:

Throughout their time at Living Word,students will study art through practice and theory by exploring a variety ofart forms such as drawing, painting, and screen printing. Art assignments are basedon observational, expressive, abstract, and imaginative forms. Alina is thedean of our Art Department. She instructs students to express their ownfeelings through art. Art is not only for appearances, but indicates one’sinternal values and culture. This department includes, Beginner Art,Intermediate Art, Art Theory, Media Design, Fashion Design, and Senior ArtPortfolio.

音乐系:

本课程运用大量经典和当代作曲家和音乐家的作品来演示音乐的欣赏、作曲和表演等独特魅力，在学习乐谱和音乐概念的过程中也提升自身的修养与情怀，为将学生培养成著名的音乐家打下一个好的基础。音乐系下设课程为：音乐合唱、室内管玄乐、爵士合唱、乐器、音乐基础。

Music Department:

Ourmusic courses use great classic and contemporary composers and musicians tofoster appreciation for music, composers and performances. Students study musictheory to improve self-cultivation and feeling through learning music concepts.All of these are to lay a good foundation for students to be accomplishedmusicians. This department offers: Advanced Choir, Beginner Choir, ChamberOrchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Instrumental Ensemble, and Fundamentals of Music.

体育系：

体育课程一直是美国教育的重点，美国的中学生有一半左右都参加过学校的各大体育联赛。体育系将以虎的精神为学校体育带来生气争创佳绩。尤其下设足球队、篮球队、羽毛球队、武术课和女子健康，校队的主教练都是参加过上海职业联赛的运动员，他们将以自己的专业技能启发同学的体育天赋。

PhysicalEducation Department

PE is an important part of US education. Almost half of students in middleschool are in a sports league. The dean of our PE department, Michel Freeman,is working hard to build up the reputation of our school. This departmentincludes General PE, Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, MartialArts, and PE Women's Fitnessand Nutrition. The head coaches are all professional athletes who inspire passionfor sports in students with their experience and attitude.

数学系：

中国学生向来不惧怕数理化，我校在国内理科教育的基础上增设了一些国内在大学才有的，而在美国高中就开设的数学课程对中国学生较为适合。数学系下设几何、代数、微积分预科、大学代数介绍、消费算数、统计课。计算机介绍、中级计算机课程。

Chinese studentsare good at Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. That is why our school offerssome university-level math courses that are otherwise only available for highschoolers in America. This is well appreciated by our Chinese students.

自然科学系：

自然科学系的目的在于不同科学学科内容的同时，提高学生的观察、分析和计算的能力，以更好地理解物质世界。自然科学系下设物理、化学、生物、环境科学、地球科学、健康和心理学。

NaturalScience department

The goal of the Natural Science Departmentis to make connections amongst the various scientific disciplines whiledeveloping observational, analytical and quantitative skills to betterunderstand the physical world. Natural Science Department has Physics, Chemistry,Biology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Health and Physiology.

由于我校的学科体系刚成立，随着学生对各种学科的需求不断扩大，一些系也会相应地壮大，如计算机课程正在不断壮大可以单独成为计算机系;音乐系与美术系会统称为艺术系等这些改变也是会随时根据情况进行调整。如此多的课程能够彻底挖掘同学们的潜能找到自己的天赋与方向，成为今后各行业具有全球国际观的领导者。

To satisfy theincreasing of demand of students, our departments will continue to becomestronger in the future. For example, the Computer Science classes are growingso as to be a Computer Science department. The Music Department and Fine Arts Departmentwill soon merge into a new “Art Department.”
