上海美高学校虽然办学时间不长，但是有着自己独特的办学特色和鲜明的个性魅力，除了校服、校徽、师资和课程等创新的教育理念以外还有学校的吉祥物——老虎。虎在美国是很受人们欢迎的动物，代表着许多优秀的品质。老虎是美高学校的象征，尤其代表校体育运动队积极向上的精神。

Inspite of its short history, Living Word Shanghai has its own unique charms andadvantages. In addition to school uniforms, badges, faculty and innovative education philosophy, the school is proud of its tiger mascot.Americans lovetigers, for whom it represents many excellent qualities. The tiger is also the symbolof Living Word Shanghai, standing for the positive spirit of our athletics program.

与2015年美国大学排名的普林斯顿大学校徽吉祥物老虎一样，上海美高学校的吉祥物也有独特的、属于自己的老虎形象标志，是我校的吉祥物与体育系的队徽和象征。虎象征着勇敢、聪明、敏锐、迅猛、顽强和王者风范的特点，意味着学生具有品德、勤奋和创新的综合素质成为具有王者风范的各行业领导者。尤其是反映我校体育系的校运动代表队的体育运动精神，积极向上、顽强勇猛和勇夺佳绩的作风。

Likethe tiger of Princeton University, which is ranked first among US universities, the tiger is also the logo of Living Word Shanghai. It is the symbol of the school because the tiger represents the characteristics of courage, intelligence,keenness, determination and regalness. It further represents the way students with morality, diligence and innovation will be leaders of all aspects of life.The tiger logo particularly reflects the athletes of the school with theirpositive attitude and willingness to win.

体育课程一直是美国教育的重点是体现学生全面发展的重要体现。美国的中学生有一半左右都参加过学校的各大体育联赛。体育特长是美国大学在招生时非常注重的项目。我校体育系下设校足球队、篮球队、羽毛球队代表我校参加校级联盟比赛。校队的主教练都是参加过上海职业联赛的运动员，他们将以自己的专业技能启发同学的体育天赋。我校体育系聘请MichelFreeman 老师担任体育系系主任。Freeman老师毕业于美国的罗格斯大学，他是一位优秀的篮球手、美式足球运动员、足球队员、摔跤队员。在他的体育生涯中获得过一系列篮球联盟比赛冠军，他还在摔跤比赛中获得过名。

PE is an important part of US education. Almos thalf of the students in secondary school are in a sports league. Athletics is taken very seriously by admission departments of Universities in America. Ou rathletics department includes a soccer team, basketball team and badminton team.The dean of our PE department, Michel Freeman, is working hard to build up the reputation of our school. The head coachesare all professional athletes who inspire passion for sports in students withtheir experience and attitude.

Mr Freeman graduated from RutgersUniversity. He had great success as an athlete he was a valuable player on basketball, American football, soccer, wrestling, and baseball teams. He won a Mount Laurel basketball championship, Mount Laurel League MVP (Basketball), and league leader in rebounds.

美高足球队主教练詹可强老师。詹老师毕业于华东理工大学工商管理专科专业。从2001年到2006年，他在上海中远足球俱乐部(中超)踢球，后于2007年～2008年效力于西安浐霸足球俱乐部(中超)。2009～2011赛季，转会至中邦足球俱乐部。

Keqiang Zhan is a graduate of East China University of Science and Technology with a degree in Business Management. From 2001 to 2006 he played for the Cosco Soccer Club. From 2007 to 2008 he played for the Xi’an Soccer club. Between 2009 and 2011he played for Shanghai Pudong Soccer Club, and is now the Head Soccer Coach forLiving Word.

校篮球队主教练鲍佳老师。鲍老师毕业于华东师范大学教育管理系公共事业管理专业。7岁进入少体校开始接触篮球，并且在12岁进入上海体育运动学校开始篮球专业训练。在2004年任职上海市女子篮球青年队队长，后进入上海市女子篮球队。

Yoki Bao is a graduate of East ChinaNormal University. She started playing basketball at 7 years of age and went onto Shanghai sports school where she received professional training inbasketball. In 2004, she was nominated as the captain of the Shanghai GirlsYouth Basketball Team. She plays for the Shanghai Female City Team. Bao is thehead coach for the Living Word Basketball.

美高羽毛球队主教练吴凯源老师。吴老师于2011年9月至2015年7月在上海市体育职业学院运动训练专业四年制专科学习。2010年获得上海市羽毛球十四届运动会双打名。2014年获得上海市羽毛球十五届运动会团体第二名。2012年改练壁球进入国家队，2013年参加第二届亚青会。2013年获得壁球东亚运动会团体第四。2013年获得全国壁球锦标赛站。

JackWu studied at Shanghai Sports Vocational College from 2011 to 2015. His major was Sport Training. In 2010 Jack Wu won the 14th Annual ShanghaiBadminton Doubles Competition and also won the Singles Competition. Since 2012he is a member of the National Racquetball team and competed in the 2ndAsian Youth Games. He has won the National Racquetball Championship for singlesin 2013. Jack has several years of coaching experience. Jack is now the Headcoach for the Living Word Badminton team.

我校聘请职业运动员担任校队主教练旨在以他们人个人的独特经历帮助学生发掘体育方面的才华与潜质，培养全面发展的学生。为此我校还为学生开设武术、瑜伽、女子健康等课程，同时还为学生提供击剑等课外体育活动。

The school employs these professionalathletes to the coach its sports teams with their personal unique experience.This aims to help students improve and discover their talents and potential insports, and cultivate students of well-rounded development. Therefore, theschool has set up courses such as Martial Arts, Yoga and more. We also provideextracurricular PE classes such as judo andfencing.

以老虎的精神奋发自强，勇创佳绩为学校争增添誉，数风流人物，还看美高健儿。

In order tobring honor to our school, we must have a spirit of endurance in training. In this way we can be the man or woman of the hour that people can count on at Living Word Shanghai.
